Super Saturday for a Super Missionary!

HEY!

This week was full of adventures!
We had Missionary Leadership Training and it was great! It's always a great learning experience. We mainly just discussed a world wide Christmas initiative the church is having and we are playing a huge part in it. I am SO excited!!! I'll tell you more about it once it launches! But I'll tell you this... it's going to be AMAZING!!!!!!!

We also helped out with the relief society's super Saturday! A Saturday filled with crafts and good food! Want to know the best part? Kate Gross (our recent convert) organized the whole thing. Her calling isn't even in relief society hahaha i love her to death. She is just amazing. Pictures will follow of her fabulous work! It was 70's themed! CUTE!! haha it was a blast.

I think my favorite part of the week though was our lesson with Ken and Kathy. Do you remember the couple I told you about last week? We found them through family history. WELL, they are the BEST!! We taught the restoration and they loved it! Kathy even read the whole intro to the book of mormon before we got there! YAY! Then.. here comes the best part.. we asked when we could see them next and they said "well what are you doing tonight? want o have dinner with us?" UM.... YES!!! It was so tasty!!! First time I've ever had dinner with investigators! It was so great!! She even baked us cookies and let us take them all home. and if that wasn't good enough, they are taking us out for lunch before our lesson next week hahah I LOVE THEM!!!! They accepted the baptismal invite so we are very excited.

I still keep in touch with the Klassens. They were a family we taught a while ago who were going to be baptized then backed out and dodged us for months. I wont give up on them. I can't. I remember the first time they all came to church and sister Brimhall, Smith and I just jumped on each other in the breezeway. They have been a part of my favorite memories on my mission. I can't let their story just crash like this. It's very hard and sad to see them get so cold but I have hope. I saw the light in them before. It can happen again. I know it.

Missions are hard. It is the hardest thing I've ever done. But so rewarding. I have never felt so full of light and joy. Every challenge we face is just an opportunity to be strengthened and to grow. I am so thankful for the privilege of being here. I love you all!

Love,
Sister Heinzlmeir

Family History Connections!

Transfers happened! But nothing too big changed. We got a new Elder replacing Elder Ruth. His name is Elder Grifith. He's funny so that is good! And Sister Smith and Brimhall are still in the city so we can still see each other here and there! YAY!!!! It's finally snowing here in Winnipeg! I'm so excited!! It looks SOOO pretty!! Makes me so excited for Christmas!! The only thing that is a bummer is this transfer is only 5 weeks instead of 6 and next transfer is 7 weeks. they do that so the missionaries going home can be home for Christmas. But that means I could be transferred and in a new area a week before Christmas. I hope I stay! I love this ward. I've already been here for 6 months! I hit my half way mark in a couple days! AH!! It's crazy.

We have been very blessed this week and were able to find a few new investigators! One couple we found through family history! We were shopping a couple p-days ago and were in line to buy our groceries. The man in-front of us looks at our KD and bananas and laughs while stating that we must be living on our own haha. Perfect way to break the ice! So we chatted and turns out his grandfather was a member of the church and he told us about how he has been wanting to find information about his life and history on his mom. FAMILY HISTORY!!! So we told him to come on by the church and set up a time with the family history specialist in the ward. Then we were able to go to there house to deliver more information that was found by a wonderful member. They were thrilled and happily accepted the offer to learn more about the church! I love when people say yes. hahaha. Feels right. So we have started to teach them and it's great!!!

Our members here are so fantastic. We have been baking cookies, drinking hot cocoa, putting up lights, and feeling the Christmas spirit! Lets get the count down on already!!!

It's been a really great week.  So I was praying a lot to figure out how I can be more focused and then I felt prompted to study more! We have an hour for lunch and an hour for dinner.. but we don't normally eat lunch and dinner is a blur haha we just have so much to do!! But apparently it can do more harm then good to run faster then we have strength. No wonder we are feeling so down and drained!! So we are making sure we take the time to relax at lunch and dinner and study! I have been reading my scriptures and "Jesus The Christ" during those hours and wow what a difference!! I feel so much better!! Not only our we properly feeding our bodies but our spirits too! DUH!! haha I don't know why I didn't do this before haha. But anyhow.. its the best! I feel so light and filled with the spirit!!

I love you all so much!! Hope you enjoy the snow and drink some nice hot cocoa!!!

Staying put...for now...

Hey everyone!!

What an exciting week!! First of all.. I got to Skype SHANNON and the fam and see her open her call!! FRANCE!!! AH!!! I am beyond excited!!! The best part is I wouldn't stop talking about it for the rest of the night. So my whole ward knows haha and all my missionary friends. Elder Pestridge and Martens even got to see it too! so fun!! YAY!!

Oh and TRANSFER CALLS!!!! Sister Davis and I are staying together! I'm excited. I'm so glad I get to be an STL for another transfer! It's so much fun! I love going on exchanges! It's crazy though. Everyone thought I was leaving because I've already been here for 6 months haha London Ward for life!!! I love this ward so much. It's my home. I would be so happy if a got another couple transfers here haha.

Another great event this week.. Andrea and Tatiana got baptized!! YAY!! They are two little girls we have been teaching. Their grandparents bring them to church. It was amazing. All the activity day girls in the ward came to the baptism and it was so special. Their dad is less-active and he came and cried the whole time. It was very powerful. The strength children have these days is amazing. Those girls are so strong and I am so proud of them. It was interesting though, as I sat behind them and pondered after they got baptized, I thought about how baptism is our goal as missionaries. That's what we aim for. Baptism. But as my mind wondered and I thought about the life ahead of them. They can go on missions, get married in the temple,  strengthen their family, they have so much waiting for them! I just really realized that baptism isn't it. Like what is says in 2 Nephi 31: 19-20. Baptism is only the beginning. And it's exciting but got me a little nervous. I hope I did enough to make sure they are prepared for everything that is going to come! It's truly such a blessing. Being able to be a part of someone's journey to Christ. I love being able to witness the miracles the spirit brings.

Speaking of miracles, So this week we went to see a less-active. We prayed in the car before we went in, like always, and noticed these two construction workers working on the neighbors house. It was awkward because they were probably wondering what on earth we were doing. Then we go to the lady's house and she isn't home. So we walk back to the car and look at our planners to see our next step and sister Davis looks at me and says we should go talk to the two guys. (and they are watching us this whole time). She mentioned a quote from Preach My Gospel about talking to EVERYONE. I didn't want to. They looked scary!! And were watching us!! We probably look crazy because we have been in our car for 10 minutes while they keep looking over. I so did not want to go. But Thank goodness my companion has more bravery then me. She took a a few pass-a-long cards and shoved them in her purse then we agreed to just give it a shot! We can do this! haha so we go and ask bluntly if they would like to learn. Then the one guy who scared me looked at us and said yes and no. We ask what that means. He said Yes because he is interested, but No because he is working right now. I was so taken aback. Like wait .. what? you are? hahaha. So we exchanged info and get his number. Then he tells us he has seen missionaries all the time in Mexico. He said he always felt so bad because they would always wear their white shirt and tie even when it was super hot out. It was amazing. I sure learned my lesson! Never judge from the outside and talk to EVERYONE! You never know who God has prepared and put in our path.

I love you all so much! have a wonderful week!

Sister Heinzlmeir

Marshmallow Power Horse

This week was filled with SO MUCH laughter and fun!! Not only was it Halloween, then my birthday, it was also sister Davis' birthday AND my district leaders birthday this week haha partying literally all week long. It was great.

One thing that was really great but feels like a life time ago was we went on exchanges with the Gateway Ward sisters! They live like 5 minutes from us. So not as much of a road trip like Kenora was, but it was still fantastic! I went with Sister Hamilton and it was lots of fun! She is so great! She just got into the field this transfer so she is fresh and excited! which is the best! I feel like we had a great exchange. I felt the spirit a lot and we were able to talk a lot and discuss the normal stresses with being a new missionary. I can sympathize with that! feels like it was yesterday! The thought that in a week or so i hit my half way mark blows my mind. I feel like I still don't know anything hahah!!

On Thursday we went to a returning members' house for dinner with the elders. (we go to her house for dinner every Sunday) and he had BIRTHDAY CAKE! since soon approaching was 3 of our birthdays haha and we all turned 20. seriously haha soo good. so that was a blast! Then the partying just continued! We had Missionary Leadership Council on Halloween so I got to see sister Smith! Perks of us both being sister training leaders haha and it was great! Me and sister Davis dressed up as each other. Literally wore each others clothes and did our hair like the other would and switched name tags, coats, and bags. it was so good! We think we totally did a great job haha we thought we were funny. Sister smith was a nerd. The subtle costumes you think of as a missionary. haha. And since Sister Smith and Brimhall know gifts is my love language, they were sure to get me a present for my b-day haha love them! so they got me a bag of marshmallows and a horse necklace. sounds odd.. i know. but there is a story behind it haha SO my nickname from them and Kate Gross is Marshmallow Power Horse. simply because apparently I'm a soft gooey lovey marshmallow and power horse because one night we were having this deep conversation and I was pep-talking sister Brimhall and was like "sister Brimhall.. you are such a power horse!" Smith and Brimhall started laughing and Sister Smith was like "uhh Heinzy.. do you mean she's a power house? or has horse power?" hahahah oh that will never leave me hahaha sooo yeah. (Oh Jen...she gets that from her Dad...)  I'm marshmallow power horse. it was the best. Then on my birthday I opened my package from home bright and early! and we went and did a service project for the boys and girls club! The lady in charge knows me and knew it was my birthday (thanks to sneaky elder Pestridge) so she got me cake and a card! SO CUTE!! love her haha. I also got many calls and the gateway sisters put balloons and treats all over our apartment! AND our District went out for birthday ice cream at marble slab! We are so going to be broke soon hahahahah. but it was well worth it!!!! I LOVE BIRTHDAYS!!! so it really just was the best thing of life. haha AND we have a baptism this weekend !! YAY!!! Praying it all goes smoothly and as planned! It is a 10 year old girl named Andrea and her sister Tatiana who is 8. Their grandparents are members and take them to church. I love those girls so much. I'm so excited!! YAY!!!

Such a fun week. Lots of treats and love haha best combo!! I love you all so much! Hope you had a great week and hope this next one is just as good!!

Love,
Sister Heinzlmeir
